K&A Pop-Up Vintage & Retro Christmas Fair

Well today has been a fantastic day at the K&A Pop-Up Christmas Fair at Brighton Racecourse. The fair was organised extremely well by Katie and Annabelle and their attention to detail was amazing. If you have attended any of their fairs before (usually in Hassocks) you will definitely know what I mean and they always manage to find the best food vendors! Outside was a stone-baked pizza vendor and a french creperie - aMAzing!

This was how we greeted our customers today with a mixture of Christmas decorations, homewares and gifts and we would like to thank anyone who has bought from us today and we hope you enjoy your purchases. This has been our most successful fair to date and we've had such a great time.

Our beautiful snowglobe decorations that were amongst our best sellers today.

Fantastic singing entertainment as well!

Even if you couldn't afford to buy any of the vintage clothing you could drop by Crystal Vintage Dressing Up Box to try on those classic pieces.

French creperie

Stone baked pizza and the Bug Bar offering a selection of speciality drinks.

The next K&A Pop-Up Vintage Fair will be in Lewes in January so be sure to check out their Facebook page for more information.

Vintage Fair Sneak Peek

This week we have been working very hard to get everything ready for the K&A Pop-Up Vintage Fair on Saturday 30th November. This post will give you a sneak peek of some of the gorgeous goodies we will be selling including decorations, homewares, cushions and stationary.

Vintage Christmas Bauble

This beautiful bauble has a wonderful Christmas scene in the centre, adorned with snow and wrapped up with burlap and a Christmas greeting to finish it off. The bauble was made using a Melissa Frances glass dome and watch out for my 12 days of Christmas where I will provide some step by step instructions of how you can make this wonderful decoration.

Glitter Snowflake

These glitter snowflakes really do glisten amongst the lights on a Christmas tree and go down well everytime. Featuring a vintage image in the centre they make a perfect vintage decoration. For more details about the materials you will need to make it, check out my 12 days of Christmas - Day 3 post from last year.

Vintage Mitten Decoration

These mitten decorations are sooo cute and will look adorable on any Christmas tree. A bit of rusty wire finishes them off and if you're lucky these may also feature in my 12 days of Christmas 2013!

Christmas Cushion

It wouldn't be Christmas without some Christmas cushions scattered on the sofas in the living room. This robin cushion would work perfectly with traditional red and green colours and is one of many different Christmas cushions we will be featuring at the Christmas Fair on Saturday.

This has only been a sneak peek into some of the items we will be selling at K&A Pop-Up so if you want to see more, make sure you head down to Brighton Racecourse between 10am and 4pm. More details below.....

Hope many of you can make it and be sure to pop by our stall and say hello!

Countdown to Christmas has begun!

The past weekend featured our last workshop of the year, Countdown to Christmas and I think it has definitely got everyone in the Christmas spirit ready to count down the final days until this festive celebration. It was our biggest workshop to date with 14 people in total attending the class, so maneuverability was a little difficult at times but I think everyone made the most of it and enjoyed the tips and techniques they learnt that day.

As always we love to set up the tables in the most appealing of ways to delight our crafters as soon as they step in the room. The cute house boxes (from Hobbycraft - £4 for 4) really add that finishing touch and make an excellent storage for all those finished magnets.

We tried to create a step by step guide for the day, starting with painting the baking tray which will form the basis of the advent calendar and then starting to work on each magnet. We even provided a guide for each magnet on a noticeboard to break down how to make them.

Never will a Vintage Follie craft day go by without tea and cake!

Getting to the end definitely took some time and patience......

But it was worth it as all the finished advent calendars looked amazing and still everyone managed to create something different and unique to them. We love to see how people put their own creativity into the project and even with the same assortment of items can add their own touch.

Tracey's finished advent calendar

Julie's finished advent calendar

Pauline's finished advent calendar

Jean's finished advent calendar

Joanne's finished advent calendar

Katherine's finished advent calendar

Alicia's finished advent calendar

These pictures only cover half of the crafters that came on Saturday and everyone really did do a good job and we can't wait to see what you will all come up with next year at our next Vintage Follie workshop.

For more tips and techniques for making a vintage advent calendar make sure you stay tuned for tutorials coming soon.....

Configuration Workshop: Christmas vs Vintage

Hi bloggers, today has been another amazing workshop day. It doesn't matter how many times I host this workshop, I never get bored of it and each time everyone creates something completely amazing and unique to them.

I have a few photos to share from the day, however photos of the finish pieces are a bit lacking because many finished early and left before I could get the camera out!

The first step for everyone is to glue the pre-cut papers inside the boxes and tissue tape around all the edges to keep the boxes in place.

The best part of the workshop is the embellishments that go inside the box. Pictured above are grungeboard letters which can be created by:

a) Painting grungeboard letters and blocks pieces in black - cover the whole letter and block.

b) Once the paint had dried, use sandpaper to rub away some of the black paint from the letter.

c) Apply some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo to add that rustic/distress look to your letters.

Starting to look good!

Most of the boxes were finished off with some extras which included decorative feet, corners and a curio knob to go on top of the box.

There were some fabulous results with the Configuration box and I think the star box of the day was Oceaniana's Christmas box - at only 16 she is definitely a crafting star in the making!

Only 2 weeks until our big Christmas Craft Day with a fantastic project and sweets and treats throughout, can't wait. Our Christmas workshop has sold out but if you want to put your name on the reserve list please contact us.

Now that Bonfire Night has passed its time to get all Christmassy - happy crafting!
