Easter Crafting Inspiration: Hanging Egg Decorations

These hanging easter egg decorations are perfect for hanging around your house at Easter time. If you have a decoration tree (often found in Hobbycraft) then these will look beautiful hanging up and you can add any odd trims and lace you have to make them look extra vintage.

You can also add some feathers around the top of the egg for extra decoration.

We added some beautiful gold trimming around the top of the eggs to make them more elegant and vintage.

You can add a small piece of trim to the bottom of the eggs or why not add a tassel as you will see in our picture below...

So how did we make these decorations and what did we use:-

Well we initially bought a set of eggs and foil wraps from LaBlanche when they were featured on Hochanda a couple of months ago. Even though Hochanda still sell some of the Easter items in their collection we couldn't find the eggs or foil wraps on their website anymore.

However you can still buy direct from LaBlanche, so please click on the following links to find the items:-
(Please note you may need to translate their website using Google Translate)

Eggs

Extra Supplies:

A pair of Tongs

A bowl of boiling water - we found that using the bowl from a slow cooker works well and if you are making a lot you can plug in your slow cooker to keep the water hot while you make them all.

Hot glue gun

Some spare fabric trims and feathers

How to make:

These egg decorations are so simple to make. Choose the design of foil wrap you want from your sheet and tear away gently along the perforated lines. Then take an egg and hold the foil wrap around it using your tongs. Dip the egg in the boiling water, keeping hold of it with your tongs, within seconds you will see the wrap adhere to the egg. And that's it!

After that you can decorate the eggs how you please! To attach the tassels you will need to use a hot glue gun. Also if you want to add a hanger to the top you will need to use a hot glue gun to attach some thread.

Alternative Supplies:

If you would prefer to order supplies more locally you can easily source some white plastic eggs on Google which list many alternative sellers. For the foil wraps, Hochanda sell an alternative set by La Blanche which you can easily cut to fit the size of your eggs.

For another idea of how to use these plastic eggs stay tuned for our next blog post...
