Easter Crafting Inspiration: Easter Cards

We have something for the cardmakers today, which are these beautiful Easter cards. For these cards we used a selection of stamps from LaBlanche. Again this set was initially bought from Hochanda but you can buy these stamps direct from LaBlanche and you can select specific sets of stamps if you don't want the whole collection.
We added a couple of our own stitching stamps and also a 'Happy Easter' stamped sentiment.

Our card designs were inspired by samples from the Easter Inspiration book by LaBlanche.

Materials Used:

LaBlanche Stamps:

You will also need a set of stamps that have stitching lines or a fine border stamp.

Die Sets:
Circle Die Set

Ink Pads:
Tim Holtz Dried Marigold Distress Ink Pad
Tim Holtz Bundled Sage Distress Ink Pad
Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet Distress Ink Pad
Tim Holtz Mustard Seed Distress Ink Pad

Permanent black Ink Pad, e.g. StazOn or Archival Ink Pads

(If you don't have the above colours then just use similar colours that you may have at home. If you don't have Tim Holtz distress inks you could use other blending ink pads).

Stencil Tape/ Masking Tape

Black Pen

Optional Extras:

Lint Free Cloth

The above may seem like an extensive list of materials but these are not all required and you can create very similar designs using your own combination of products you may have at home.

*Please note as these blog posts go live I realise that some websites may have restrictive delivery or may not be delivering anymore. These links will give you an idea of the products we used and you may then be able to source from alternative websites/shops.

How to Make:

1. First of all you will want to experiment with some design layouts on a piece of plain printer paper to give you an idea of what you want to stamp where.

2. Using a permanent black ink begin to stamp your design on the Specialty stamping paper. Once you've finished stamping, dry the ink with a heat gun. Fill in any gaps in your stamped image with a black pen.

3. Create your own stencil by die cutting a circle (or shape of your choice) from Stencil paper or ordinary plain paper. Either will be fine.

4. Layer this on top of your stamped design and hold in place using stencil tape/masking tape. You may also need to hold your stamped design in place with some tape as well.

5. Choose the Distress ink colours of your choice and begin to add using a blending tool.

6. Once you've finished lift the stencil away from your design and dry the ink using a heat gun.

7. If you want to add a stamped sentiment to your card, do this now and then dry the ink with the heat gun.

8. To finish off the card you can opt to use the Pentart Wax to create a beautiful sheen to your card. Apply the wax using a lint free cloth and wipe across the whole of the specialty stamping card. Then polish the waxed surface with a soft lint free cloth. This will give you a silky matt effect.
DO NOT HEAT WITH A HEAT GUN AFTER USING THE WAX!

9. Grab a card blank from your stash and ink the edges with a distress ink pad before adhering your stamped design to the front of the card.

Making these cards can get quite addictive as once you've completed a few the process becomes so easy and the effect of silhouette stamps on an inky background look fab!
Go on, experiment and have fun!
